Set up your Sage HR calendar

Your Sage HR calendar lets everyone in your company see important dates and who is on leave.

Written by Oliver Cook

Set up your calendar with everything employees need to book time off, including public holidays and days they can't request off.

General calendar settings

You can change these settings to control the calendar layout and choose whether events such as birthdays or long‑term leave appear.

Public Holiday Groups

Public Holiday Groups help ensure employees who are eligible for public holidays have them correctly assigned to them.

You need multiple public holiday groups when employees work in different countries or follow different national holidays.

EXAMPLE: In the UK, some employees follow holidays in England, while others follow holidays in Scotland.

You can create public holiday groups and assign employees to them.

Import public holidays

You can add a public holiday to your calendar manually if you click Add public holiday. Alternatively, you can import public holidays into your calendar.

Custom working days

Set dates that people usually treat as non‑working days, but require your company or specific employees to work.

Create Blackout dates

Set blackout dates to prevent employees from booking any leave on specific days.

📎NOTE: If you use Sage HR Essentials, blackout dates are only available when you subscribe to the Leave Management module.
