If your employer enables two-factor authentication (2FA) for their company, the next time you log in you're required to authenticate yourself using 2FA.

If you haven't already signed up for 2FA, you're prompted to set it up there and then.

📎NOTE: If your employer has recently enabled your login to become a Sage account, you're prompted to create your Sage account by entering your name, and creating a new password for this new login type.

  1. Click Set up 2-factor authentication.

  2. Confirm your First name and Last name, then click Continue.

You're presented with a QR code.

You have three different ways to authenticate:

  • Authentication app (Recommended) - This app provides you a one-time code to use

  • Voice - You receive a voice call or voicemail that tells you your one-time code

  • Text - You receive a text with your one-time code

Click on the option below for your preferred method of authentication to see steps on how to set it up.

Authenticator app (Recommended)

  1. Download the app of your choice from your App Store on iPhones or from Google Play on Android phones.

Sage 2FA is compatible with most authenticator apps. A few of the best known are:

  2. Scan the QR code using your authenticator app.

📌TIP: If you can't scan the code, for example, because you're viewing it on your phone, click Cannot scan the QR code? You can then copy a key and paste it into your authenticator app instead.

  3. Enter the 6-digit code you're provided, then click Continue.

  4. You're presented with a recovery code. This is for the event when you don't have access to your mobile device to authorise your 2FA.

  5. Click Copy code to clipboard, then paste it and store it somewhere safe.

⚠️CAUTION: Do not continue until you've done this.

  6. Once you've stored your recovery code somewhere, select I have saved my recovery code, then click Continue.

Asked to select a recovery method?

  1. You may be prompted to choose a recovery method. This allows you to access your account if you can't authenticate and have lost your recovery code.

  2. Depending on what you choose, either go to your email inbox, or check your phone for a text message or a phone call to get a verification code.
