Set up Diversity information

Once set up, you can assign a race and ethnicity to an employee (as well as sex and gender identity for US customers).

If you require recording diversity information, such as the race and ethnicity of your employees, this is possible to do in Sage HR.

There are default races and ethnicities that you can assign to your employees, You can also create new ones if the ones listed you feel don't apply or you want them to be more specific.

US only

You also have Sex and Gender identity options in Diversity information.

To access Diversity information settings:

  1. Click your name in top-right corner, then click Settings.

  2. On the General settings menu, click Employee data.

  3. Click Diversity information.


Race and ethnicity

Add a new Race and ethnicity

Add a new option to choose from when assigning race and ethnicity to an employee.

You can assign an employee's race and ethnicity from within their profile.

📎NOTE for US customers: The options listed are existing DEI options for EEO requirements. You will receive a warning if you edit, delete these options or add more.

📌TIP: To make this available for employees to view in their profile, assign the View employee sensitive information permission to the Employee role, and set it to Myself.

To allow employees to edit this themselves assign the Edit employee sensitive information permission to the Employee role, and set it to Myself.

Sex (US only)

There are set options in Sage HR for Sex. These are determined by U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).

Assign Sex to an employee

You can assign an employee's Sex from their profile. These are the same steps as assigning race and ethnicity to an employee.


Gender identity (US only)

Add a new Gender identity

Add a new option to choose from within your settings.

You can assign an employee's Gender identity from their profile.
