Accrue time off based on working pattern

How to set up a time off policy in Sage HR to allow employees to accrue time off based on their working pattern.

Written by Oliver Cook

If you want to make time off be based on labour, and have employees accrue time off based on hours in their working pattern, you can set this up in the settings of a time off policy.

⚠️CAUTION: These steps create a labour-based policy. After you create it, some settings in this policy are unable to be edited. Make sure you have everything how you want for this policy before you click Create or Save.

  1. Click your name on the top right, then click Settings.

  2. On the settings menu click Time off, then click Policies.

  3. When you add a new policy, or click Settings on an existing policy, select to allocate based on time worked or accrue, then how often e.g. monthly.

'based on time worked or accrue' option within a time off policy.

  4. Enter the amount employees will accrue based on the time they've worked. For example, 2 hours for every 1 day worked.

📌TIP: Use decimals for higher precision.

  5. Select to determine working days and working hours on a working pattern.

  6. Apply all your other time off policy settings, then scroll to the bottom and click Create or Save.

You now have a time off policy that will accrue time off based on a working pattern.
