Set up areas

Create areas in Sage HR to assign a particular job to a location.

Written by Oliver Cook

Create areas to identify a location for a job or duty. This is useful for scheduling shifts that involve multiple jobs at different locations.

📎NOTE: Shift areas aren't linked to location settings in an employee's profile or workzones.

Only employees with administrator or scheduling administrator access can follow these steps.

Create Area

It's easy to create a new area.

Assign employees to an Area

All areas will be available to your employees initially, however you can specify a primary or default area for some employees.

Assign an area to a shift template

You can assign a default area to a shift template. This means when you use a shift template to add a shift, if an employee has not been assigned their own default area, the default area from the template will be used instead.

Assign an area to an open shift template

You can assign a default area to an open shift template. This means when you use an open shift template to add an open shift, if an employee has not been assigned their own default area, the default area from the template will be used instead.
