In the UK, when an employee leaves your company, you need to provide them a P45.
If you use Sage 50 Payroll, you can use this software to print the employee's P45. Alternatively, you could use Sage 50 Payroll to email a P45 to an employee in the same way you can send a report or payslip by email.
What about in Sage HR?
It isn't possible to upload a P45 to Sage HR directly from Sage 50 Payroll like you can a payslip or P60.
If you have the Core HR module, technically you can upload a P45 as a document, just like any other document. However, uploaded documents can't be viewed by employees after they're terminated.
As a P45 is to be provided for an employee who has left your company, and you terminate leaving employees, this means if you upload a document, the employee won't be able to access it after they leave.
This is why we recommend you print or email their P45 instead.
