If you have probation periods for new employees, you can amend time off policies to acknowledge this.
For example, if employees have a probation period of 3 months, you can add this to their time off policy, and even apply limitations to what they can accrue or take off during this period.
If you want to switch on a probation period, follow the steps below. These can be done either when you create a new time off policy or when you edit an existing one.
Click your name on the top right, then click Settings.
On the settings menu click Time off, then click Policies.
Click Settings on the time off policy you want to amend.
Scroll down, then click Conditions.
This expands and shows a list of settings.
Under Does this policy have special conditions for new starters for a specific time period, such as a probation period? select Yes.
More options then appear.
You can choose to have your probation period be for a specific amount of days/months or until a specific date.
Choose whether you want employees on this policy to be able to accrue time off during this probation period.
If you do allow time off to be accrued in this period, you can limit it to a certain amount of days.
EXAMPLE: If your employees usually accrue 20 days in a year, if they start 6 months into the year, they would be entitled to 10 days for the rest of the year. If you have a probation period of 3 months, but don't allow them to accrue time off during those months, then the employee only accrues 5 days for the remaining 3 months after the probation period.
Choose whether you want to allow employees to be able to request time off during the probation period.
If you do allow this, you can enter a maximum amount of consecutive days the employee can book off. For example, an employee can't request more than three days off in a row.
When you're done, scroll down and click Save.
