If enabled in Sage HR in settings, you can add a development goal. You can add a development goal for yourself, or if you're an admin or manager user, you can add a development goal for another employee.

We'll show you how to do this in the steps below.

  1. If you are adding a development goal for yourself, go to your profile. On your profile menu click Development goals, then click then click Add development goal.

If you are adding a development goal for another employee, on the main menu click Development goals, then click Add development goal.

Alternatively, as an admin or manager, you can go to the employee's profile and add a development goal via their Development goals tab.

  2. Select the training, learning, and development needed to achieve the defined goals.

📌TIP: You can add to or amend the options listed here under Development goal templates in your settings.

  3. Select a start date and a deadline date.

  4. Select a Development method.

If you want to select more than one, click the ➕.

You can then select a second, third, fourth etc. development method.

📌TIP: You can add more development method options from within your settings.

  5. If required, enter any required resources from the company. For example, travel.

  6. If you want the employee to receive an email notification about this development goal, select Notify employee by email.

  7. Click Save.

  8. If you are a manager or admin, and you created the development goal via your main menu, you need to select who you are assigning the development goal to.

📎NOTE: You can only assign a development goal as you create it. If you want to assign the same development goal later to another employee, you will have to manually add the development goal again, then assign it to them.

  9. Click Save.

The development goal appears under the employee in the By employees tab, and can be found in the By goals tab if you filter to view All development goals or just the specific development goal.

After you first create a development goal, by default it shows as an Active goal.

📌TIP: To make changes to a development goal, for example, to amend its deadline click on the pencil icon. To delete a development goal, click on the rubbish bin icon.
