Enter or edit timesheets

Enter or edit worked hours in Sage HR Timesheets to keep records accurate and ready for approval.

Written by Oliver Cook

Use the Timesheets module to record the hours you’ve worked. You may need to enter or update hours if Sage HR doesn’t pre‑fill them or if your working time changes.

Access your timesheet

  1. Select Timesheets from the main menu, or open My profile, then select Timesheets.

  2. Select the correct timesheet period using the dropdown at the top.

📎NOTE: Admins or managers can open an employee’s timesheet from the Timesheets menu or the employee profile.

Enter or edit hours

You can enter hours in two ways.

Option 1: Enter the hours directly

  1. Select a day in the timesheet grid.

  2. Enter the start and end time.

  3. Enter the break length if required in hh:mm format.

  4. Select the ✔️ icon to save.

Option 2: Edit a specific day

  1. Select the date in the Day column.

  2. Enter the start and end time.

  3. Select the break length if required.

  4. Add a comment if available.

  5. Select Save changes.

📎NOTE: You can add comments only if an admin enables this option.

Review your hours

After you enter hours, Sage HR shows:

  • Total hours worked

  • Contract hours

  • Difference

This helps you check if you’ve worked under your contracted hours or built overtime or Time Off In Lieu (TOIL).

Next steps

Your timesheet status shows as Unsubmitted. Submit the timesheet when you finish entering your hours.
