Error: 'You have already submitted an event at some of these dates'

How to resolve this error message when submitting a time off request in Sage HR.

Written by Oliver Cook

When someone submits a time off request, they may see the following error.

There was an error

You have already submitted an event at some of these dates

This occurs because there is already a time off request for this employee during the dates they've requested.

For example, an employee requests 3 October 2025 to 9 October 2025. However, there is already an existing time off request for 8 October 2015 to 10 October. This may be a request that is awaiting approval, or an approver has already approved it.

📎NOTE: The event doesn't necessarily mean a leave; it could be training or a training event. Anything that will show on the Sage HR Calendar

To resolve this, you must decline whichever event during those dates is blocking the time off request.

📌TIP: If it's a training event that you need to decline for the employee, use our article, Remove an employee from a training event.
