If you're an admin user who uses a Sage account login to sign into other Sage products for example Sage Payroll, you can manage your recovery method. This is a phone number or email address you use to log in if you can't access your primary authentication method, or lost your recovery code.

The steps below are how you do the following:

  • Set up a recovery method

  • Change the recovery method from a phone number to an email address

  • Change the recovery method from an email address to a phone number

  • Edit the existing recovery email address

  • Edit the existing recovery phone number

📎NOTE: If it's the phone number you use as your primary 2FA method that you need to change, you need to remove your device and set up 2FA again for the new number.

  1. If you don't already have a recovery method set up, there is a warning telling you. Click Add a recovery method.

If you do already have a recovery method set up, click 2-factor authentication, then click Manage recovery method.

  2. Enter your verification code and click Continue.

If you're changing an existing recovery method, click Change recovery method.

Here you can add a recovery phone number or email address.

If you already have a recovery method set up but want to change it, click the relevant option, then enter the phone number or email address.

📌TIP: Choose a method you have access to in the event you lose or don't have access to your device.

For example, if you lose your phone and can't receive a text to the recovery phone number.

📎NOTE: You can't have both a recovery phone number and email address

A recovery email address must be different from the Sage account email address. For example if you log in with [email protected], you can't use that as your recovery email address.

If you verify by text or voice call, the recovery phone number must be a different number to the one you authenticate with.
