Change an employee's email address - No payroll integration

How to change an employee's email address if incorrect or needs to be updated (No integration with Sage payroll software).

The employee’s email controls their Sage HR login.

How you update it depends on whether:

  • They've created a Sage account already

  • Whether they can log in to account.sso.sage.com

  • Whether their new email address already exists as a Sage account


Update the email address

  1. Open the employee profile.

  2. Click the Employee tab.

  3. Select Change email address under Work email.


If the employee hasn’t activated their login

  1. Enter the new email address.

    Change email address window, with an option to enter a new email address and send a welcome email.


  2. Select Send welcome email.

  3. Click Save changes.

The employee sets up their login using the new email invitation.


If the employee has a Sage account

Change email address dialog. It shows confirmation of the employee name and explains they have to change their email address because they've setup their Sage account. Button 1 in the dialog reads: Send instructions via email. Button 2 in the dialog reads: Copy link to instructions.

If the employee can’t access their current email

  • Send them the email change instructions manually

  • They don’t need access to the old email unless they forgot their password

  • If they can’t log in to account.sso.sage.com, or the new email already exists as a Sage account, contact Sage support for help


Important information

The Sage account update also changes the email in all other Sage HR companies or Sage products that they use that email address for.
