ERROR: 'Expiration days must be greater than XX days'

How to resolve this error when you create or edit a parental leave time off policy in Sage HR.

Written by Oliver Cook

When you create or edit a parental leave policy, you see the following error, preventing you from saving the policy.

Expiration days must be greater than XX days.

The error occurs because:

  • You selected Expire allowance [insert number] calendar days after event

  • The number of expiration days you entered is less than the policy’s allowance

For example, if the policy has an allowance of 365 days, the expiration must be 365 days or more.

To resolve this error, you need to increase the 'days' value in this setting so it matches or exceeds the policy allowance total.

  1. In the time off policy, open the Conditions tab.

  2. Find the setting Expire allowance [insert number] calendar days after the event.

Expire allowance setting within 'Conditions' of a time off policy.

  3. Increase the 'days' value so it matches or exceeds the allowance total.

For example, if the policy gives 365 days, set the expiration to 365 days or more.

  4. Click Save.
