If you have no access to your primary 2FA method or have lost your recovery key, and don't have a backup method, then you won't be able to log in. Often, this will result in an admin user having to reset 2FA for you, or an admin user having to contact Sage support.
To prevent future lockouts and ensure seamless access recovery, users should take the following steps.
Set up 2FA using a method you can always access
We recommend setting up 2FA using an authenticator app. This is because you may not receive your 2FA code via text or call if you have a poor signal, or when your network provider is having issues.
Save your recovery key
When you set up 2FA, you're provided a recovery key. You can use this code one time in the event you lose access to your usual 2FA method. When you use it, you're provided a new recovery key to note down.
Make sure to make a note of this recovery key so you can use it when you need it.
Set up a backup method
📎NOTE: A backup method is only available for users who use a Customer Sage account to log in.
A backup method is an alternative email address or phone number that you can use to generate a new recovery key if you've lost it, or to reset 2FA yourself.
If you set up a backup method as an email address or phone number that you can always access, you should never be locked out again.
