When you create a time off policy, you can set an allowance. For example, a holiday policy where employees get 25 days for the year.
If you set this up to accrue annually, this will mean the employee will have 25 days available to use from the beginning of the year. You can then set this to reset at the end of the year.
If you want the employee to have 25 days allowance, but the available balance depends on how far through the year it is, you can set this by selecting to accrue:
Daily
Weekly
Bi-weekly
Half-monthly
Monthly
Quarterly
Half-yearly
For example, if a 25 day allowance were set quarterly, halfway through the year (if an employee had taken no time off yet) their available balance would be 12.5.
