Now a new year has begun, there are new HR tasks to do. We'll provide you some best practice and help with some of these tasks, such as how to manually add carried over leave from last year to the current year. We'll remind you how to import your public holidays for 2022 if you haven't already and how your employees can book time off using the Sage HR app. We'll also let you know about some new features now available in Sage HR.

Manually add carried over leave from 2021 into 2022

If you haven't set your policies to carry over allowances from the previous holiday year, you can still do this manually retrospectively. This ensures balances are brought forward into the new current holiday year.

📌TIP: Once you’ve amended the carried over allowances from 2021, why not set up your time off policies so that at the end of 2022, any unused balances are automatically carried over into 2023? This will save you time having to manually do it next year!

Import your public holidays for 2022

If you haven't already done so, you should import your public holidays for this year. This is important to do in case you have time off policies that don't count public holidays as work days for example, and you want to make sure your employees time off balances are correct when they book time off that coincide with any public holidays.

These public holidays must be added manually to your Sage HR calendar, which you can easily do with the import function.

Book time off with the Sage HR app

Your employees are probably already planning their time off for this year. If they haven't already, you should recommend they download the Sage HR app. This will allow them to easily book time off using their phone.

What's new?

New identity verification for the Sage HR app

Speaking of the Sage HR app, you and your employees can now set up identity verification such as Face ID, Touch ID, or a PIN. This provides extra security for you and your employees as it will help protect sensitive data in the Sage HR app.

Working patterns

Another new change in Sage HR is the introduction of working patterns to the Core HR module. This feature helps set what hours employees should be working. These are helpful for setting time off policies that you want based on these working hours if you use the Leave Management module. They can also be used for setting up timesheets and establish what counts as overtime if you use the Timesheets module.
