Import compensation

A useful way to add one or multiple employee's compensation into Sage HR.

As well as add compensation for an employee manually one by one, you can download our template and import compensation for multiple employees in one go.

📎NOTE: Compensation is not available if you have Sage HR integrated with Sage Payroll.

Download import template

  1. Click your name in the top right, then click Settings.

  2. On the settings menu click Employee data, then click Compensation.

  3. Click Import data.

  4. Click Download template.

  5. Complete the template.

Checks to make

  • Ensure the file format is .xlsx and avoid converting from other formats to prevent corruption

  • Verify that all required fields, such as employee email addresses, are correct

  • Check for duplicate entries in the file, as these can cause the import to fail.

When you're done, you can import this template.

📌TIP: Test the import process with minimal data to identify potential issues early. If the import works, copy your remaining data into the new template, ensuring the test employee is not re-imported.

Import compensation

  1. Click your name in the top right, then click Settings.

  2. On the settings menu, click Employee data, then click Compensation.

  3. Click Import data.

  4. Click Select file, then browse to the completed import file and click Open.

  5. Click Import.

📎NOTE: You can only import new compensation. Importing compensation can't amend or delete existing compensation entered. If you want to amend or delete a compensation entry, you must do this manually and individually.
