When you change an employee’s working pattern, the system applies the change from the date you make it.
You must always create a historical working pattern to record the previous pattern. This ensures the employee’s working history remains accurate.
Always record the previous working pattern
Change or assign the new working pattern, which will apply from today
Create a historical working pattern for the previous pattern.
Set the end date to the day before the new pattern starts.
Avoid extra historical entries
Make the change on the exact date the employee’s pattern changes.
If you do this:
You only create one historical record for the previous pattern
You don’t need to create an additional pattern to cover gaps
Fix changes made after the start date
If you update the pattern after it started:
End the previous pattern on the day before the new pattern's start date.
Create a historical pattern for the missing dates.
Use the same settings as the new working pattern.
Example
You update the pattern on 3 July
The new pattern started on 1 July
You must:
Create a historical pattern for the old pattern up to 30 June
Create another historical pattern for 1 July to 2 July
