Error: 'An account with that email address already exists. Enter a different email address'

How to resolve this error when changing an email address within Account Management.

Users within Sage HR companies that use a Customer Sage account can change their Sage account email address via account.sso.sage.com.

When entering and confirming the new email address, you may see the following error:

An account with that email address already exists. Enter a different email address.

This occurs when the email address you want to change to for your Sage account already exists under another Customer Sage account. For example, you may have used it when creating a Sage account for another Sage HR company, or a different Sage product.

If possible, use a different email address not already used for Sage.

If this isn't possible, and you need to change the email address to be this new email address for Sage HR, an Admin user can contact Sage HR support. Support can see if there are any workarounds to change this for you. However, be aware that this may not be possible.
