Settings in Sage Payroll

This article explains the options found in the Settings area of Sage Payroll - Canada only

The Settings tab (previously called 'Maintenance') is where you add company details and manage payroll settings.

Each of the options in the Settings tab is explained below.


Tax setup

Select this to view and edit information about your company needed for T4 and RL-1 submissions.
​This includes the following:

  • Company name and the Trading name

  • CRA payroll number

  • Physical address

  • The business owners' SINs (Social Insurance Numbers)

  • T4 transmitter number

  • RL-1 transmitter number

  • Quebec enterprise number

    All fields needed for submissions to CRA or Revenu Québec are marked with (Needed for submissions)


Company logo

Upload or edit your company’s logo.


Pay groups

Pay groups are used to group your employees so they can be paid as part of the same pay run.

Select this option to view and edit employees and pay components in existing pay groups, or add new pay groups.



Pay components

Pay components are used to show the types of earnings, benefits or deductions that make up an employee's pay.

Select this option to view and edit default pay component descriptions or add new pay components.



Departments

Select this option to view and edit a list of departments or add new departments.
You can add departments to the Employment tab of an employee's details.


View program and licence information

Subscription ID


This is a unique ID for your Sage Payroll licence.

You may need this if you contact the Sage Support team.

Version number

This shows the version of the program you are using.
The version is updated automatically for all users as we release new features or updates.

You do not need to install or apply any updates.
